It started with a rewrite that shouldn't have been necessary.
We kept getting called in to fix the same failure. A product that worked beautifully at ten users, then started losing data at ten thousand. Not because anyone was careless — because the guarantees were never chosen. They were assumed, and assumptions do not survive load.
Synops exists to invert that order. We decide what a system must never do before we decide what it should do. Ordering, consistency, durability, privacy — those get settled first, and the product is built inside the constraints they create.
It sounds slower. It is faster, because the rewrite never comes.
